Decision-Making & Representation Act Training
The Supported Decision-Making and Representation Act, came into effect on January 1, 2024. This new law is based on human rights and recognizes that people with an intellectual or developmental disability should have as much control over their own decisions as possible. It also ensures that individuals who need support to make decisions can get the help they need while still having their choices respected.

Designed for:
The training includes three separate courses designed for different groups — legal professionals, individuals, and families, and medical professionals. Each course explores practical ways to support decision-making, explains changes to legal and medical processes, and highlights how these changes promote human rights and person-centred planning.

Medical Professionals (Coming Soon)
This course helps medical professionals learn how to do capacity assessments under New Brunswick’s Supported Decision-Making framework. It covers the main principles, practical tips, and step-by-step guidance for supporting adults to make their own choices while respecting their rights.
